[ST] Battery problem

My son and I were going to to start the ST and the battery was low,so he 
wanted to hook up the charger .Like an idiot I did not look close enough 
at his connections and he plugged it in. I herd a click come from the 
charger and then a realized that it was hooked up revered. Now when i 
turn the key all i here is a clicking noise coming from the computer. 
The battery is low but i don't thing that would cause the computer to 
click. I think this may have damaged the computer. Any suggestions.
