RE: [ST] Modify or upgrade ??

<<
I remember a few of you have mentioned changing to Ohlins rear shock and
Racetech ?? fork mods, were these mods
worthwhile? How much improvement over stock did you get?
>>
I really enjoyed the improvement that stiffer springs, slightly heavier oil,
and the Race Tech Gold Valve units gave to my '99 and '02 Sprint STs. I
enjoy a spirited pace(no comments from the peanut gallery) and just this
change has really increased my confidence and feel with the bike. I've had
it described to me like this. Upgrading the rear shock is like going from
80% perfect, to 90% perfect. Upgrading the front forks is like going from
75% to 95%. This from a fellow who did both at the same time.

What was done and how extra power was gained? Are there any websites i could
have a look at to get some ideas?

and relatedly Wayne McDonald's Tuneboy site:

Wayne advises any of his Speed Triple maps should work fine for the Sprint
series.
With a slipon, a K&N and Wayne's technology you can gain some HP, and smooth
out what little imperfections are in the power delivery. Personally, I
don't have any problem with the power of the ST, but more could always be
good. If your looking for more acceleration, maybe drop a tooth or 2 off
the front sprocket.
