RE: [ST] Front mudguard extension

Great idea, Steve. That hadn't even crossed my mind. I'll think about it.
I assume you don't mind, so I'll send to the group as well.

I picked up a small piece of 8x10 inch plexiglass from Lowes hardware store
yesterday (cost approx $3). I'm going to try to cut it to fit, stick it in
the oven at a low temperature (we'll see what it takes), then see if I can
make it soft enough to bend to somewhat follow the curves of the lower
fairing (before the glass goes up in flames). Anyone know what temp? My
first guess will be about 250 degrees F.

When I was in junior high school we used vacuum pressure, molds, and
temperature to create shapes of all kinds using plexiglass. I have no idea
how soft the stuff gets using temp only. Anyone with experience?

With all of the optional equipment one can buy, why hasn't anyone done
this? I'd be happy to pay $20 for one, maybe more. Road crud comes flying
off the tire and pavement and the bike runs into the crud at whatever speed
you're traveling.

I want clear a plastic cover so the fairing paint will show and not have to
worry about matching paint color. If we could find such a beast, then I
wouldn't have to worry about finding a longer mud guard and mucking up the
front wheel appearance.

James,

I am emailing directly since my AOL email makes the Triumphnet a little
crazy.

I ride a 2000 RS with no lower fairing panels so I don't have the same
concern about protecting my lower paint. However, could you try removing
the lower panels for the winter months and pretend to be an RS kind of guy?
Running "Bottomless" around town might cause some alarm among the more
conservative folks, but it might save your paint from chipping.
