Just my 0.02 on the whole helmet issue. While I believe that you are
correct in stating that there is no general rule that says a $400 helmet is
going to protect you any better than a $150 helmet I think there should be a
rule about the level of comfort a helmet provides. I view buying a helmet
like shopping for scuba gear, specifically a mask. If it doesn't fit it
doesn't matter how good a deal it is and conversely, if it fits great and
costs a little more it'll most likely be worth it in the long run.
You said you rode 80k in four years (DANG!) so if I were you I'd be shopping
for the most comfortable, lightest weight, best venting thing I could find.
Even if you pay $400 for an Arai or a new Shoei it's like half a cent a
mile.
Just my 0.02 and probably worth about as much.

Howdy,
My Shoei RF-800 has a little over 80K miles on it from the last
four years of riding and is reaching the point where it could stand to
be replaced. I have been seeing more and more of the KBC helmets in
stores and in catalogs. Anyone have one? Impressions? Worth buying or
total junk?
