[ST] floppy ears

maybe i fold 'em back too often, but my mirrors have gotten floppy. or
maybe it's old age. anyway, i dropped by the hardware store this afternoon
and grabbed some bits - here's the deal:
a simple rubber grommet designed for wires going through a hole in sheet
metal - grooved around the edge, about 1" OD give or take - and a similar
flat washer and stainless bolt and nut. in honor of Bastille Day:

picture 1 is the SS 3/16 x 1 1/2 socket head, the SS nylok nut, and the
grommet, with the first one done showing the washer in place. the mirror
mount casting already has a hole - no drilling required.
picture 2 is with the rubber folded back in place - hardly a bump.
the grommet smooshes down over the [loosening] spring clip that is
supposed to keep pressure on the Belleville spring washers. there is still
a little rotary play, but that's down in the detent slot and i just didn't
want to mess with it. i'm betting when i ride to work tomorrow those
flashing red lights will be easier to spot.
cheers
bp
