RE: [ST] 99 vs 02 differences/observations

Just something I was thinking about (and haven't really paid any attention
to previously), did the RS get the same improvements that the ST got for '02
(i.e. more power, different gear type for smoother shifting, etc.)?

They will, the '02 puts out more power.
More power = more heat.
Sort of a good thing really.
Unless you live somewhere warm, in which case a naked bike might be better.
