 Al,
I haven't verified this on the Triumph, but from automotive
experience (and the pump looks pretty familiar), a fuel pump
needs ~10.5v to function without damage.  This is waaaay below
the threshold of starter function and of course, assuming you
have a functioning alternator, you'll only be in that low voltage
condition for a short while once you've got her running.  My rule
of thumb: If the lights are bright you're in good shape.
