Not sure. Probably some kind of non-volatile memory in the FI brain.

Depends on the year/VIN and whether you've got an aftermarket/race can installed. Here's where to look:

I had the FI tune updated on my '02 RS and it made it run noticably better. Smoother at low RPMs and more willing to rev.
