Rich, I recommend a leak down test of the cylinder. Through this process you
can detect if the leakage is from the rings or valves and what valves. The
leak down test is a method of injecting compressed air into the cylinder
through a leak down gauge and looking at the percentage of leakage as well
as listening to the intake, exhaust and crankcase areas to determine where
the leakage is escaping to.
