SPEED Channel continues its Florida motor sports tour with live coverage
from Daytona Bike Week beginning March 7 with the AMA Genuine Suzuki
Accessories Superstock 750 at 2 p.m. ET.
"In keeping with the Florida launch of the racing season, SPEED Channel
has maintained a major presence in the Sunshine State since arriving for
NASCAR testing in January," said Rick Miner, SPEED's Sr. VP Programming &
Production and Executive Producer. "After covering the NASCAR test
sessions at Daytona, we moved right into 16 hours of live coverage from
the Rolex 24 and stayed through Speed Weeks with more than 60 hours of
programming. I've been in Florida so much lately, I'm starting to like
the early bird specials. "
SPEED Channel's Bike Week coverage will continue March 7 with 3 p.m. ET
live coverage from Daytona with SPEED Channel on-air personalities Greg
White, Brian Drebber, Ralph Sheheen and David Sadowski. After a look at
Bike Week 2003, the cameras will return to the track for live coverage of
the Pro Honda Oils U.S. Supersport 600 at 4 p.m. ET.
Daytona Supercross by Honda will take center stage on March 8 with two
hours of Prime Time coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. SPEED Channel also
will be at Daytona's Municipal Stadium to record AMA Flat Track racing
for broadcast March 11.
On March 9, the MBNA 250 Grand Prix gets underway at 10 a.m., followed by
the BMW Boxer Cup live at 11:30 a.m. White, the weekly host of SPEED
Channel's Two Wheel Tuesday programming, will race in the Boxer Cup with
on-board cameras and wired for sound as part of the SPEED broadcast.
SPEED's Bike Week coverage will culminate with the week's pinnacle event
-- the Daytona 200 by Arai, beginning with a 30-minute pre-race show at
12:30 p.m. ET.
"I've been riding motorcycles for 25 years," Miner said. "So, even prior
to coming to work at SPEED Channel, Bike Week was the high point of my
year. Now I'm getting the opportunity to get inside the action through
SPEED's coverage -- it really doesn't get any better than this."
In addition to all the SPEED Channel programming from Daytona, the
fastest growing sports cable network in the country also provided live
qualifying and race day coverage from the St. Petersburg Grand Prix. And
following Bike Week, the SPEED Channel production team will continue its
extended Spring Break, heading south for live coverage from the 12 Hours
of Sebring.
In 2003, SPEED Channel is the exclusive U.S. cable home for many of the
top motor sports series in the world, including the Champ Car World
Series, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, USAC, World Rally, ASA, IHRA,
ALMS, Grand Am, F3000 and live coverage of AMA and FIM motorcycle road
racing events. Now available in more the 60 million homes in North
America, SPEED Channel is the fastest growing sports cable network in the
