Re: [ST] Two fatalities in the Lewisville area on Sunday

I know it is popular to beat up on the cage drivers that pull in front of
motorcyclist, but there are some dynamics here we all need to come to grips
with, or die. I won't go into the details of the studies conducted on this,
but it is well known that if the cage driver does not have it in their mind
that they are looking for a motorcycle oncoming, it is very likely they
won't see it, (aka...some experiment where people are asked to watch a
basketball team and count how many times they bounce the ball and while this
goes on something like a clown or gorilla ?? walks through and no one
recalls ever seeing it when asked later). So what does this mean to us, ride
like you are invisible, never, NEVER, assume they see you, or DIE. My point
is not about what should be done with the cage driver, it won't change the
problem. It is your choice. I was hit in the very same fashion when I was
eighteen years of age and luckily I cleared the car that hit me and landed
unharmed. I have never taken for granted that anyone turning left in front
of me, or waiting to pull out in front of me, sees me. Many times I come to
a stop when I can't come to a comfort level knowing they won't pull out in
front of me.
My sincere regrets that another two riders have left us.
