Now you're talking about BAD electrical equipment on the donor vehicle.  If
the regulator on the donor vehicle is DEFECTIVE, as would be the case if the
voltage is allowed to rise in proportion to the engine speed and NOT be
limited to the maximum charging voltage, then of course the motorcycle
battery, or other electrical devices, could be damaged as a result.  But so
can all the electrics on the donor vehicle, including it's battery.

The peak charging voltage on a correctly working alternator/regulator will
be the same for both a car and a motorcycle.  The both charge lead/acid
batteries and the physics don't change.

And I wouldn't believe everything you hear from a dealer    ;-)

I was told by the Triumph dealer that they have seen the electronics cooked
either from the donor car having a bad voltage regulator coupled with
possible revviing while charging.
