I think Honda uses the same caliper set up on at least one of their
bikes. Seals may be cheaper there.
Yes I believe that since the claipers are made by Nissin, a Honda subsidary, you quite possibly could get seals from Honda. If you can and do, please share the part numbers with the list. I own several BMWs and I have a love-hate relationship with BMW-NA due to their policy of closing many good small dealers and replacing them with multi-million dollar "lifstyle centers" that don't seem to be able to provide service on par with their "image".
Consequently, I get every single part I can from a source OTHER than a dealer. I've actually gone to the effort to become a WURTH "dealer" so I can get maintenence items at a substantial discount. (For example I just bought a BOX (100) of sump drain washers for the cost of 1 oil filter kit)
I'm of two minds when it comes to Triumph. Although I like to save money where I can, I also want to support Triumph wherever possible. I draw the line at about 50% mark up. I won't pay a dealer 150% more for tires, but I wouldn't shop elsewhere to save 10% on caliper seals.
Please let us know. I would also be interested if the Honda equivilent uses the same brake pad materiel. I just paid ~$140 for a set of F/R brake pads. If the Honda set was <$80 or so, I think I'd have to shop their next time. Not to mention my son works at a Honda/Kawi/Ducati dealership and could get me cost on them.
