[ST] 40,000km Service

Guys,

Just been shopping around for prices for the major(?) service, OMG the prices
are mind blowing! - why so expensive?  My ST is out of warranty now, is there
anything *special* in the service that an amatuer mechanic such as myself can't
do?  Seems a hell of a lot just to get a dealer stamp in the service book! 
Anyone got a list of what they actually do?  If you could email it to me off
list I'd be very grateful.
