I can tell you that the new Bonnies are an absolute hoot to ride.  I've got 
17,000 on mine since June of 02.  Forget what you remember about the old 
ones though.  The new ones are honest to goodness fun rides with plenty of 
power, especially after some normal small mods like rejet and pipes.  And 
they're actually pretty comfy for 75mph touring too, seriously.  I doubt 
you'd regret it but keep the ST also for big hit speed.
