       Your friend with the 170 is right of course.  everything on
motorcycles is a compromise between looks and handling.  If you want
to go fast without having the front get pushed wide coming out of the
corners by the rear, then go with the narrower tire.  If you want to
look KEWL, then put on the fattest tire you can find and try not to
deviate from a straight line any more than neccesary (and stay out of
the throttle when you're leaned over).

       Kinda like the Great Single-Sided Swing Arm scam.
