[ST] suspension settings

I've come to the realization that trial and error isn't really getting my
suspension dialed in so doing a little digging. I ran across this link:
http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_susp_settings/
but seem to recall some hubub about some confusion on what they meant by
"clicks" or something, anyone recall the real deal? I'm just trying to
get back to a decent place to start from again and this looked like it
might be something...
I'd just like to get the stock stuff as good as it can be for now. I went
to 15w fork oil back at the 12k but over 30k now an overdue to change.
Thanks in advance for any info that'll help, besides the obvious
Progressive/Ohlins upgrades.
