[ST] Why Synthetic Oil?

Here's an observation...I had a few oil analysis' done on my Sprint ST oil and my friend did the same on his Daytona. I ran 20w50 Amsoil and he ran 10w40 Amsoil. What we both noticed is that when we had our analysis' done at 6000 kilometres (~3600 miles) both oils exhibited a viscosity drop of 10 points. That is to say the 20w50 was testing out at operating temperature (I think 212 deg F) at a viscosity of 40. Same for the 10w40...it was testing out at a viscosity of 30. Needless to say we were only running our oils to 6000 kms since we didn't want to run our oil out of spec...especially the 10w40.

So, maybe with all of the gear shearing of the oil, the synthetics stand up better during Triumphs recommended oil service life.

Just maybe...
