On general around town use:
I bought the ST when I was commuting about 90 miles
each way to work. I figured it would be a nice sporty
highway worthy machine. I've got others that I intended
to do the sporty riding on (Guzzi CX100, Laverda 750S,
and Suzuki SV650).
I've relocated closer to work so now my commute is about
12 miles one way. I alsmost exclusively ride the ST. It's great.
I love the way it handles, get's very good mileage, bags are
good for food shopping, taking stuff to and from work, picking
up six packs of beer, etc.
Having 3 other bikes to compete with, and I love all of them,
I'm putting about 16K miles on the Triumph a year. Far more
then any one of the others. Maybe even more then the others
combined. I was so sure that I'd want to keep the SV for
around town and now that thing pretty much collects dust.
I'm only holding on to it for a track bike which I hope to
use next season.
About the only complaint I have is the weight. I'm short (bout
5' 5.5" (note that only short people need to mention fractional
inches). When I'm tired I have a tendencey to drop the thing
which I don't have much of an issue with on the other bikes
being smaller and lighter (accept the CX100). That usually only
happens after a long day of riding so it's not a big issue
with 'round town stuff.
Anyway, hope this helps.
