Craig,
I do a lot of commuting on my '00 ST - from NJ into NYC and back. 19,000
miles on the clock and probably 75-80% is commuting. Only change I've made
(and would highly recommend) is lowering the gearing. I went from a 19 to a
17 tooth front sprocket. For city driving - especially if there's a lot of
stop and go traffic, the ST is geared too high, IMO. You'll be slipping the
clutch all the time. The lower gearing helps a LOT, and has not affected my
gas mileage.
Other than that, it works fine for me. Though the clutch pull is a bit
stiff, you soon get used to it. (after a few years riding an ST, just be
careful of picking up anything fragile with your left hand!)
Cheers,
Mort
