RE: [ST] Rear sprocket

FWIW, I recently helped a friend change sprockets. He also got his from
Sprocket Specialists. Not good! The front was a cheap one piece, and the
rear needed some filing to get on his wheel. The inside bore was
out-of-round.

I changed mine Friday night, using Triumph parts. I paid $31 for the front,
$54 for the rear (I think....not sure on the rear.) The Triumph front has a
nice rubber cush drive moulded in. The steel rear is actually made by
Suntour, and fit PERFECT.

I should also note that my original sprockets went 40,653 miles. You won't
get that out of most aftermarket. What a difference! Of course I also
replaced the chain along with the sprockets and my bike is back to it's
original smoothness, with one caveat. The stock front on my RS is a 19
tooth. I went to a ST's 18T. I now have a buzz in the footpegs at 5000rpm
that I never noticed before. It may have been there @ 5K, but with the
gearing change, revs for my cruising speed have changed. Oh well, small
sacrifice for the improved starts. (First gear on my RS was too tall.)

Get your sprockets wherever you like, but for ME, it's always going to be
that cush-drive front!
