RE: [ST] roof

Don,

Roof has neither at the present time. They are BSI approved.
Of course the BSI would mean nothing to an officer who was looking for the
DOT sticker.

Dave in PA.

This is direct from the TrickTape web site re: the ROOF Certification::

Concerned about DOT approval? - Although this helmet has not yet been
submitted for DOT or Snell approval, it has passed the stringent BSI
regulations for the United Kingdom. These standards are as high or higher as
the DOT standards here in the US.

Why BSI?

Why do ROOF Helmets carry a blue BSI certificate, instead of the Snell
sticker?
For real-world performance. The British Standards Institute (BSI) is one of
the largest, most respected certification and testing organizations in the
world. Its BSI 6658 standard for motorcycle helmets was developed by medical
experts, accident investigators and engineers, using real world accident
data.
The Blue Label ensures maximum protection for riders against the kind of
impacts they encounter in the real world, not just arbitrary drops against a
steel anvil.

Furthermore, a percentage of every production helmet batch is tested; if any
failure occurs, the entire batch is rejected. For these reasons, experts
rank BSI 6658 Type A as the best in the world - and many insist the BSI Blue
Label is the most valuable sticker any helmet can wear. Racing organizations
agree; every major national organization accepts BSI 6658 Type A for
motorcycle competition.

Tests performed by both BSI and Snell Standards:
Impacts on Four Sites: Drops against forehead, side, back and crown.
Against both flat and hemisphere anvils. Maximum 300G:
No more than 300G transmitted force allowed during any impact.

Other Tests:
Chinbar impact test.
Penetration test against sharp-edge steel striker.
Environmental stability test. Next strap test for stretch, dynamic
retention.
Faceshield penetration test.

Additional Tests performed by BSI only:

Special tests and procedures: Oblique impact tests against steel anvil and
abrasive material to assure helmet doesn't dig in and twist, leading to
potential neck injuries.
Anatomically correct test headform, with bumps and ridges and correct weight
for each helmet size.
Testing of every production run: A percentage of every helmet batch is
tested prior to release to the public; if any failure occurs, the entire
batch is rejected.
Once a year, every helmet model, every size is tested.
Recurring factory inspections: Four times per year, the factory is inspected
to ensure full quality control compliance.
Bi-Annual auditing: Twice a year, each helmet type is subject to a
comprehensive audit of component analysis and testing .

I might have missed this but are the Roof helmets DOT and SNELL approved?

We bought our Roof Diversion Helmets from Frontier Cycle's in London
England. They ship immediately. They fit much like a Shoei. I do not
know of anywhere in the states that is selling the Roof. I am quite
pleased with mine. It doesn't leak rain...doesn't fog...is quiet,
light weight and very aerodynamic. A good product. Around $300.
