RE: [ST] Stripped Bolt Q

Marc,

I know a few riders that have MZ Skorpions, one with an MZ Country (for
sale), two with Sport Cup Replicas. All of them love the bikes as they are a
lightweight, great handling machine even if a bit down on power (especially
compared to our triples.)

Our local guru for MZ is Galen Miller, owner of Bikeworx, Maynard MA. If
there's one guy in this world who knows the MZ inside and out, it's him.
Galen builds (and sucessfully races) MZ's that are bored & stroked up to
780cc's. Wanna know more? Check out:

Very cool guy, tell him I sent ya! (If he draws a blank, let me know I'm an
LRRS photographer who's gotten many a good photo of him leading the pack. :)

OK, so here's an actual motorcycle-related post.

We're working on Grace's MZ (she hasn't put up her post yet, so I'll skip
the details). It's a classic nail/horseshoe/war scenario...

The RH switchgear is damaged, so the starter button won't work.

To get the switchgear off, so we can fix the button, we need to undo the
throttle cables at the carbs (not enough slack to do it at the barrel).

To get to the carbs we need to get the gas tank off.

One of the two bolts that goes from the mount into the tank body appears to
be stripped; it's just spinning - but won't pull straight out with
vicegrips.

Suggestions?

Marc D
