Re: [ST] sprockets?

> After all the discussion about chains I've decided I need to replace mine.
Since I'll also be replacing the sprockets I'm thinking of adding
/subtracting a tooth or so. Can someone tell me the formula again, ie more
teeth on the rear increases acceleration but decreases top end (and fuel
milegage), correct? What's the hot setup? Where's the best source for
replacement sprockets? I know all this has been gone over alot in the past
so my apologies for not taking notes. Another case where the searchable
archive is sorely missed. Thanks in advance for the info.

Most people that change gearing drop one tooth on the front (from 19 to 18)
for more acceleration. If want even more (at the expense of spinning more
revs for the same MPH), the 18/45 (from 19/43) is quite popular. I'm
thinking of going 18/45 this season when I finally replace my chain and
sprockets. I already did the 19T to 18T change and liked it a lot. Cheap
($50 or so) and dirt easy to install. It's the single best, cheap thing you
can do to your Sprint for better performance IMO.

And yes, these gearing changes will reduce top speed somewhat, but my speedo
rarely gets into 3 digits, so that's not an issue for me.
