[ST] RE: How often do you ride?

Ok. My post was a bit general and I didn't do a good job of explaining myself. I too am pretty fit for my age. I exercise, study/practice karate, swim, and ride 2-3 times a week (commute). I race on the weekends, at least until before my highside. That was only, approximately, once per month. Some months had two races in it.

I attribute a caring hand from my creator and my good physical condition, that my injuries weren't worse and that I recovered fairly quickly (if you call 1 week fast). I was still swollen and sore, but I was up and walking two days after the incident and home after four days. But wasn't released to work until 4 weeks. Doctor's are too conservative, but that's a good thing.

The point I was trying to convey was that, even though I'm in good physical condition, practice makes perfect and being physically fit helps not only in handling a situation but in recovery time should we get hurt.

Although I have a fair amount of inate skill, I don't feel as though I get enough riding/track time to be an "expert" or feel as though I have skills that are refined enough. I spoke generally because I think that may also hold true for a many others as well. If it doesn't I apologize.

Bottom line is: the more we ride, the better we get. You increase the chances of something going wrong, but it's only when things go wrong that we learn. You have to know the limits, and you won't know where that line is drawn until you cross it.

Speak for yourself. I ride five days a week as long as
it is not snowy or icy or I'm at sea or on duty. I work
out three days a week and am fit.
