Howdy,

I just lash my laptop to the grab bar with a short piece of cat 5 still 
plugged into the ethernet port...

Seriously though, I have a soft book bag and I just toss the laptop into it, 
the bag fits fine in either pannier.  If you are concerned about the laptop 
banging around (i am not), you can use a laptop sleave.

Lately I don't know why i even haul the laptop back an forth as I never take 
it out at home...
