[ST] Shifter Position

Bought some new boots.  Now I can not get my foot under the shifter of my 00RS.  I tightened the linkage up as much as possible, this lifts the lever, but it is still very tight.  Has anyone had this problem?  Can anyone offer some help?  PLEASE
