Let me clarify, the actual dealer demo bikes, not the ones that Triumph cart
around the country and abuse w/ no regard.  Those bikes are awful, appear to
be poorly maintained and I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole.  The dealer
bikes (at least at my dealer) are usually well maintained, ridden by people
who are at least as responsible as myself, and can be had for a song at the
end of the season.

Yikes! I'd stay away from them just like I'd never buy a used car from
Avis, Hertz or any other rental. We all know how we drive when it's not
ours.
