I think you were defending the survey, not the ladies - they don't need 
defending. :-)

As for the survey I think Garry is right - the point about Women's 
appearance/non-appearance in MC magazines can easily be made from 
anecdotal evidence. No survey needed. 

However traditionally in scientific circles, if you are trying to prove a 
point with a survey, the survey must be written so as not to create a bias 
in the outcome. If you do, you end up *not* proving your point because the 
results simply could have been created by the way the questions were 
worded. Not that you wouldn't get the same results anyway, but if you try 
to steer the survey it invalidates the results of that survey.
