[ST] for Matt - Thunderbike-Givi Panier Mounting kit

 >>> Has anyone had any experience with the panier mounting kit for a
givi wing rack that is made by Thunderbike. <<<

In the Spring of 2000, I got the Thunderbike kit - wing racks,
top box rack and adaptors - to mount the N28 (28 liter) GIVI hard
bags on my then new RS. Four years & 25,000 miles later, the
brackets, adaptors & GIVIs
are still in very good condition in spite of the bike being dropped
several times and I consider them and excellent value. The GIVI hard
bags (which, complete with Triumph badges, were Triumph factory
accessories for the Sprints - and other models - during most of the
'90s) are sturdier and more waterproof than the Triumph bags... but
not as attractive.

Having said that,... my son decided to get the GIVIs a year or
two ago and discovered that GIVI was now making their own adaptors
and tubular racks to fit the RS (not sure about the ST) and he went
with the GIVI set-up. I'm not sure how the price compared. I NEVER
take my panniers off, except into the motel;... he frequently rides
with just the top box or none. We both agree that the Thunderbike
racks are sturdier but the GIVI tubulars look a lot better when the
bags are left off. Pay your money and take your choice!

                                   Have fun;
