I've always followed mfr. guidelines, for the most part, and never had a
problem. I've been told that the color isn't an accurate indicator of
viscosity breakdown. If you're that concerned, and have the money, you can
have your oil analyzed - http://www.oilanalysis.com/

Subject: [ST] How often do you change your oil?
This may be a stupid question, but how often do you change your oil? The
service guide in the manual shows services every 6,000 miles. I checked my
oil the other day and it looks pretty dark with 3000 miles on it. Should I
go ahead and change it or will it be ok to wait until the next service?
