That's pretty expensive. I live in a very small town in the
Sierra Nevada mountains, with the nearest motorcycle dealer or
shop (other than Harley...) about 100 miles away. However, there
is a car tire store in town and the guy services the M/C
community, which is mostly off-road but there are a number of us
street riders in the area, by mounting tires (he has the proper
M/C tire equipment); he charges $15 per wheel to mount and
balance, including the core charge for the old rubber. I have to
bring the wheels to him, however, as he doesn't take them off the
bike, but that's no big deal. Not a bad price from a small town
businessman, as he could gouge us and we'd probably all happily
pay the price to avoid the 100 mile drive.
