I have an 02 ST and an 04 RS.  Love them both.  This isn't going to be high
tech.  No science applied at all.  The RS is a bit better in the twisties
and is more fun on short stuff.  When I want to go for a "ride" which means
all day, I love the ST.  I don't care for riding with a pack either.  The RS
needs something, a rack, tank bag, --something to carry your "stuff."

Really there isn't much performance difference that would justify one over
the other.
