RE: [ST] Difference between 2001 & 2002 Sprint RS Tanks? (Bagste r Tank Protector Fitment)

I could be wrong as I don't even know why I think this or where I heard/read
this, but I thought that the difference in the tank size came from the
change in parts underneath the tank (something not gear driven anymore for
less noise or something, and the layout of the components is a little
different subsequently).

Subject: [ST] Difference between 2001 & 2002 Sprint RS Tanks? (Bagster Tank
Protector Fitment)

Hey everyone,

Bagster lists Part # for the 1999 Black Sprint RS as
the same as the 2003:

ex. 2003 Blue:

http://tinyurl.com/3g34o

ex. 1999 Black:

http://tinyurl.com/3bhmt

So when I called eurobikes.com and inquired about a
tank cover for my Black 2002 Sprint RS, they stated
they make a cover for my bike and it is specific for
my bike even though they do not list it on the website
for my bike year or color.

Is the *TOP* of the 1999-2001 Sprint RS tank the same
as the *TOP* of the 2002+ Sprint RS tank? I know the
2002+ have a smaller tank by .5 gallons, but they look
the same while mounted on the bike as far as I can
tell. If the top of the tanks are the same I think I
am ok, but I don't want to get myself into trouble
here.

I was even trying to find pictures of each tank for a comparison, but had no
real luck.

Thanks,

Bryce
