Re: [ST] GPS, mapping software, and badgers.

John,
I ride long rides on back roads a lot. Actually I don't "need" GPS to tell
me where I am, my eyes usually are pretty good at that. Now that I'm
getting old and decreped (can't spell too good either), my brain housing
group doesn't function as good as it used to, so I use my GPS as a crutch.
It tell me how long I've been gone. It tells me average speed. It tells me
how long I have been on the rode versus eating burgers. It tells me what
time the sun goes down (old farts don't see as good at night) Because us
old timers tend to drift around rather than having specific places to go,
the GPS really helps in deciding on where I can go in the time available
(haven't retired yet so I do have to return at some finite time). It isn't
a necessity but it is a real nice toy. Can I do without it? Absolutely.
Do I want to? Not really.

Rod
