Re: [ST] Our odds

Actually it isn't that good - quoting from the report:
One year odds are approximated by dividing the 2001 population (285,093,813)
by the number of deaths.
Lifetime odds are approximated by dividing the one-year odds by the life
expectancy of a person born in 2001 (77.2 years).
Odds of Death Due to Injury for motorcycle riders:
Lifetime odds = 1 in 1,214
One year odds = 93,719

I searched around and only found 1 report - in Wisconsin 3.8 percent of the
population are licensed motorcycle riders.
So:
Recalculate for percent of motorcycle riders:
One year odds = 1 in 1,214 * 0.038 = 1 in 46
Lifetime odds = 1 in 93,719 * 0.038 = 1 in 3,561

If only 1/2 of the licensed riders actually ride then 1 in 23 and 1 in 1530,
If only 1/4 of the licensed riders actually ride then 1 in 11 and 1 in 765,
and so on....

And with that morbid thought I'm going to bed
ZZZzzzzz
