<Except in summer in direct sunlight, the LCD will go black.  Same thing
if you leave your palmpilot open in the top of your tankbag.  At least
when it's over 100F.

imagine the geniuses in our tech group who selected the Palm Pilot as the
interface to a rooftop air conditioner control - ok, the AC is on because
the temps are over a hundred, there's no shade, and you're trying to read
error codes on a black-faced Palm...
