[ST] ST turbo ride impression

Mucho thanks to Tom Keith, for extending a fellow Sprint owner a ride on his
Pride and joy, "Super sleeper" turbo Sprint ST up on the top twisties of
Canyon Lake (AZ 88).

I'd been forwarned that the fuel injection mapping was still a work in
progress but once
the bike was warmed good the stumbling was minimal. Having seen the torque
curves in the bike magazines and expected a hit in the Sprint's normally
generous mid range but if anything it felt a bit stronger. The turbo didn't
come on hard unless I deliberately hammered the throttle above 6K RPM and
boost gauge swung past 5psi. Then it pulled similar to my 03 1K GSXR at over
100MPH. Up in the tight stuff, the FI mapping was typical non glitchy Sprint
as I watched the boost gauge out of the corner of my eye. No surprises or
abrupt power difference without holding the throttle wide open for about one
second and then it came up in a nice linear fashion.

A few other impressions: I like the Gen-Mar risers (mine are on order), The
corbin seat is nice but I'm opting for the new OEM gel seat and the
suspension felt more taunt than my own bike, which tells me at 43,000, maybe
mine needs some work.

The turbo, like the GSXR's 8000+RPM power, is like a nice passing gear when
needed on public roads. The Sprint ST was never intended as a track bike so
the addition of a turbo is mote in that venue. I believe Steve Keith said
the bike is geared for about 165 at the rev limiter and it would no doubt
get up there in a hurry.

Thanks again to Tom & Steve Keith.
