Dave the '99 - '01 Daytona shifter puts the lever quite close to the footpeg 
as is.  I don't have big feet by any means (sz 8) and found the Daytone 
shifter to be at least an inch or two closer than the stock linkage set-up 
on the ST.  If the '02 is even closer I would not recommend that for anyone 
with adult size feet  :))

Pricing?  Hmmmm, well I paid 50 bucks for a slighty uses unit, in fact it 
was the one off Kolscheen's first ST.

As for the shift pattern, it stays the same, as the one piece shifter sticks 
backwards toward the peg.  The whole reason for the linkage on our bikes is 
to create the 1 dn 5 up pattern with a forward facing shifter.
