The other thing I found that worked better was to roll over the sensors
as quick as you can while still leaving room to brake in the oil and
grease that tends to collect at intersections. I always tried to roll
on top of the left side of the sensor. I don't think you should be
using the center, not only for the sensor reasons, but that also puts
you in the slickest part of the lane while you're trying to stop, as
well as just putting your foot down in that area is sometimes dicey.
Of course moving to a town with no traffic signals totally solved the
situation for me.
