What sort of chain do you fit? There's a huge
difference in longevity between brands. I learnt years
ago it was worth buying an 'expensive' X-ring DID, cos
they last for thousands of miles and actually work out
a lot cheaper. 

Another common reason for knackering chains
prematurely is OVER tightening them. Better too slack
than too tight.

Also, and at the risk of starting the dreaded Chain
Lube Thread (aaargh), you might want to consider
changing your ways. Sticky lubes just attract grit and
wear chains out real fast....
