Re: [ST] Tech Info

In a perfect world, where there was no grunge to be picked up and deposited on our chains,
I would agree that supplemental lubrication would probably be unnecessary. Unfortunately
that is not the case, and as others have correctly pointed out, chain life will suffer
badly if it's not cleaned at some point, the frequency depending more on riding conditions
than mileage

Maybe I should have been more explicit. The cleaner you choose to use should be put on
the cleaning rag, not directly on the chain.

As for Steve's anecdote about a Regina chain vs a DID, there is no comparison possible,
because the old Regina chains that Triumph used to use as OEM are HORRIBLE compared to the
current DID flavour. He also does not indicate the manner in which the WD40 was applied,
which probably means that it was sprayed directly on the chain. Personally I think he was
doing quite well to get 12,000 miles out of the Regina chain. Why do you think Triumph
switched?

........ and that's the last you'll hear on this topic from me ..... for awhile anyway
:-P
