[ST] Chain Life

How many miles, ball park, should you expect out of the stock chain on an
ST?

I've got maybe 12K on this one and I think it's at the service limit
according to the manual.  My RS hasn't cracked 1K and it measures about the
same.  Is there some kind of trick to that 10-20KG, 20 link, 321mm thing?  I
don't see much stretch at all, just up and down movement when the weight
pulls down on the chain.
