I don't think Motorcycle commuting ever pays off. Yes you get better MPG, but look at the cost of tires and oil changes. Car stuff lasts longer and costs less, with less maintenance.
I say this and I commute on a EX250 for a 72 mile round trip. Motorcycles are for fun.
