As a counterpoint - I have a "20-30l" tank bag that came with my (used
2000) ST. The bike has 24k miles, so I doubt the bag could have more than
that on it.

The velcro on the tank pad (the bag attaches to this) is has bleached
white with the sun, and all the little "hooks" have brushed off. When I
went to remove the pad, 2 of the straps broke with very little pull on
them. Obviously this bag has been out in the sun a lot and the sun is
deadly for nylon. And I can't say how much since I got it used (although
it lived in NJ and PA before I got it, not Arizona).

I was somewhat disappointed. I can probably get the velcro and straps
replaced by an outdoor gear repair shop, and the bag itself (made of
thicker nylon fabric than the straps) seems to be in okay shape.
