Tom,

I had Avons and went to the Conti Road Attack on the rear,  wore out at 6K, but had an Avon AV46 for the rear in the garage and just put it on.  After losing the rear several times - wet and dry, I'm going back to Road Attacks both front and rear. 
This year my mileage is mostly commute as well.
