Why change unused oil? You're just wasting the oil. Unless the motor
is run, the oil isn't experiencing anything different than if it were
still in the bottle. Oil, even used, is fine for a full year. There
are acid-fighting compounds in the oil that neutralize the acids
formed when the engine is running, but not yet up to full
temperature. (Note that this is another reason not to periodically
run the motor for a little while during the winter--idling engines do
not fully heat the oil, thus allowing moisture, fuel and acids to
form/accumulate.)

My advice? If your bike needs an oil change, put in the oil and
filter you normally run, go for one last ride that *fully* heats the
engine oil (at least 20 minutes at highway speeds), then clean her up
according to the rest of the actions on your list.
