"Severe service" is generally defined as a trip average of less than 8 1/2
miles. When that occurs, more frequent oil changes are indicated since the
engine doesn't come up to temperature and boil off the impurities from
warm-up. That said, if you can take her for a good run once in a while,
then I wouldn't worry.
