Re: [ST] Stepper Motor - Interesting

Rich, my bike had run porly at lower RPMs, anything below 4k it sputtered. It got to the point where it was dying everytime I pulled the clutch once it was warmed up. I had a local shop (California Speed Shop in Costa Mesa) check for air leaks and the stepper motor was bleeding air throughout the range. Once that was replaced, most all the lower RPM and issues related to dying when warm vanished. This is day three of riding since, have about 250 miles on the bike since I got it back last Thursday. It is really running smooth, actually do not remember it running this good.

My stepper was a used unit that was cleaned up, I do not even know what he charged me for the unit and installation. Not all that much.

Good luck and let us know if spraying it down does anything.

Derek

Can I spray carb cleaner into the thing without ill effect to clean it up? I didn't notice any visible cracking of the housing or lines, and that pht, pht sound I was hearing is coming from that. Maybe it's a bit clogged from the black soot I see and it's struggling to suck enough air.
