RE: [ST] Cable Lubrication

I've been told to use a non-oil base lubricant. Anything oil based will eventually gum up the works. Hence forth, I've switched to a silicone base lubricant for my cables. FWIW

I have used Singer sewing machine oil with pretty good results...

So I went ahead and bought that hydraulic cable luber that someone
posted about a few weeks back (yeah, I got to have all of the stupid
toys...but I like doing my own work on the bike). So what kind of "oil"
should be used? In the past I've squirted WD-40 near the ends of the
cables.
